Composer John Barry has died today aged 77.
His career spanned almost 50 years and there was not a genre of music he didn’t touch. He was most well known for his’ James Bond Scores’, namely, ‘From Russia with love’, ‘Goldfinger’ and ‘Diamonds are forever’.Other notable film work included ‘Midnight Cowboy’, ‘Born Free’ and ‘Out of Africa’.
In my opinion much of his greatest work was for the
small screen. Starting his career as The John Barry Seven he had a hit with the catchy theme tune to ‘Juke box Jury’ ‘Hit and Miss’. He then went on to pen and perform the theme tunes for ‘The Newcomers’, ‘The Adventurer’ ,’Orson Wells’ Great Mysteries’, and ‘The  Persuaders’.

A true genuious who has made a unique contribution to
the world of orchestral theme music.
 He leaves behind a
fantastic library of work.
