Look-in was launched in January 1971 with a full page advert in that Weeks’s issue of the parent publication TV Times. Billed as the ‘Great new TV magazine for boys and girls, a brand new weekly colour publication, that captures all the fun, excitement and glamour of your favourite TV programmes and stars
Across its life, Look–in spawned many rivals, - Countdown, TV Action, Target, Smash Hits, TV Tops, Beeb, Fast Forward et al, but few ever felt as exciting, up to the minute, well-honed or as vital.
Look-in burned brightly throughout the seventies and became an essential part of the Pop cultural world it mirrored. Looking back on issues now it’s like delving into a time capsule.
With the behind the scenes features of our favourite TV programmes, the cartoon strips of our much loved shows and more Pop gossip than you could shake a stick at, it was the highlight of the week.
Reading copies again, they may seem innocent and naive by today’s standards but they reflect a charm and innocence of children’s Television from the 1970s.
Enjoy a look back at a golden age of Kids TV.
